  • C.T. BOOKMAKERS SDN. BHD

    Foreword from Managing Director

As we move onwards through the millennium, continuing to innovate and develop Printing, Bookmaking, Graphic Arts, and Packaging solutions, the printing and related industries will invariably face greater challenges in the years ahead. This is led by the ever-changing technology of digital printing, especially with the increase in the use of IT. The Digital Printing industry has matured to its commercial stage and the emergence of e-commerce, e-printing, e-publishing etc will impose more challenges ahead for the printing and related industries in Malaysia.

  • Regardless of what may be awaiting in the future of Asia’s printing industry, the basic printing technology i.e. off-set lithography, gravure, flexography and screen printing will nevertheless be the core of any Print house and solidly remain in play in this industry. Based on research undertaken by Oxford Economics the Malaysian printing and publishing industry shall enjoy growth at least up to 2014 having expanded 12.6 % in 2010. CT Bookmakers too benefited and saw a 10.3 % surge in its turnover in 2010. However, 2011 saw a substantial drop of 34% in turnover largely due to temporary suspension of trade in paper, loss of a major contract of RM 15.0 million and delay in the award of another contract of RM 8.0 million which we expect to sign later this year. The outlook for the paper, printing and publishing industry appears positive but we foresee tough price warfare. We would be prepared to work synergistically with others to capture new business opportunities instead of engaging in a price war.

    Export Market

We have taken several initiatives so as to penetrate the export market and we are poised to enter the Indonesian mass market of some 580 million through synergistic partnerships. Towards this end we have acquired several new machines and an Industrial building with a CAPEX of RM 9.0 million and are moving to be ISO 14001 certified. We are upgrading our management approach so as to conform to international printing standards. As good corporate citizens we shall, through a phased programme, embrace Green Technology and eco friendly production. In engaging with the international printing community we have participated in DRUPA Dusseldorf 2012 Print Promotion conference and the largest trade fair for books - Frankfurt Bookfair as well as the Printed Electronics Convention in Tokyo.

    Local Market

It is with great pleasure that I state that C.T. Bookmakers Sdn Bhd. has taken several steps to bring renewed vigor into the local Printing scene. The strengthening of our production line with the investment in several new machines has undoubtedly granted fresh presence in the market and a renewed pursuit of quality. We look forward to positive growth and a dynamic presence in Malaysia and the Region.

  • I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to all our clients, suppliers, supporters and staff for giving us the drive to aspire for excellence. We look forward to working with all of you again on future projects which would bring the printing industry in Malaysia to even greater heights.

    Thank you.

    Steven Chay
    Managing Director
    C.T. Bookmakers Sdn. Bhd

  • C.T. BINDERY SDN BHD

    Foreword from General Manager

Efficiency, Quality, and Service. These are the pillars of virtue upon which C.T. Bindery stands. As a company in operation for 20 years, we have been leading the local market into the future of our industry. In the relentless march of the Digital Printing Industry and the volatile pricing it has resulted in, the postpress industry has reached a conundrum; to specialize in high volume production runs or cater to the shorter runs from digital printing. In answer, we present to you C.T. Bindery’s most recent purchase - The Eurobind Pro by Heidelberg. Running at 6000 cycles an hour with the shortest set-up time available in the market, it is the most suited line to cater to a trade-binder’s needs. The first of its kind in Asia, the EB Pro does not disappoint nor shy away from its German standard of efficiency and quality. Having secured the spine of the company, we now shift our sights to the coming year and its prospects.

The Financial Year July 2011 to June 2012 has seen a turning point in C.T. Bindery’s performance. A quantum leap has been achieved in turnover which has for the previous 5 years.

breached the RM 5.0 million mark from an average RM 2.5 million

This historical achievement is to be credited to our dynamic management team, strategic guerilla marketing efforts and the timely acquisition of approximately RM 2.0 million worth of machines. The CAPEX base has been further extended with the purchase of the RM 5.0 million Eurobind by Heidelberg giving C.T. Bindery a new production range, capacity and efficiency. With this capital strength and support from our sister company C.T. Bookmakers in procuring contracts, our target to hit double digit volumes is clearly achievable in the next 24 months.

  • As trade binders we view the market in its entirety as our work encompasses all that runs in the local printing industry. It is apparent that the market is no longer the fertile ground it was when C.T. Bindery first embarked on its journey but as our market shifts to an oligopoly, remain assured that we will stand at the forefront in serving the needs of our customers.

    Thank you.

    Dashan Subramaniam
    General Manager
    C.T. Bindery Sdn. Bhd.
